Adding fractions

Convert both fractions to a common denominator. For 1/2 + 1/3, use sixths: 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.

Multiplying fractions

Multiply numerators together and denominators together, then reduce the result to simplest terms.

Division and zero

To divide by a fraction, multiply by its reciprocal. A denominator cannot be zero, and division by a fraction equal to zero is undefined.
